WHEN A KAPOK TREE TALKS TO YOU, LISTEN!
How My Journey to the Amazon Rainforest
            Awakened My Life

by Cindi Landreth

Travel with me as I take my question of ‘how can I live a life full of heart when there is so much destruction and pain in the world?’ to the Andes and the Amazon Rainforest.  With the Pachamama Alliance and 9 other people, we explored both the inner and outer worlds in which we live.  We listened to pleas to awaken from the destructive dream we live in from people whose kin are directly threatened by it.  We opened ourselves to listen to the plant world with celebration and ritual.  We each have our own story from this journey….this is mine.  (Cindi will tell us of her experiences as well as show us wonderful photos that she took)

Cindi Landreth: she grew up in the foothills of Mt. Baker; is a founding board member of Sustainable Connections; one of 8 people who were the initiating group that started Transition Whatcom; and the founding mother of Whatcom Folk School. Cindi is a graduate of Fairhaven College where she received a degree entitled ‘Architectural Home Design; Considering Mind, Body, and Spirit’.  She and her husband, Rick Dubrow, are co-owners of A-1 Builders and Adaptations Design Studio where Cindi practices Residential Design.  She is also a certified Permaculture Designer. Her passion for all of this work is centered on personal and community self-worth and empowerment.  She has been instrumental in birthing Transition Whatcom’s Heart and Soul events and is now working to steer the community and the world toward understanding the need to value the natural world enough to stand up for its rights.
