Awakening Our Creative Imagination
Patricia Anne Davis, MA, Navajo Wisdom Keeper My English name is Patricia Anne Davis. I am of the Mississippi Band of Choctaw and Navajo/Dineh American Indian tribes. As a Diagnostician and Practitioner by lineage, tribal initiation and training I am experienced and trained in teaching the Dineh blessingway ceremony principles. My Navajo ceremonial name, translates to “peacemaker” or “one who greets others with peace”. I have spent a life time learning and practicing healing knowledge and processes, beginning with my own father, a medicine person, who was my teacher. I earned a BA in Psychology from the University of AZ and an MA in Whole System Design, the language and techniques of creative change, from the Center for Creative Change at the Antioch University in Seattle , WA . I worked in the Health and Human Services profession for over 20 years on the Navajo Reservation. I am an original writer of “The Beauty Way Curriculum” K-12 Prevention Education for alcohol and other drug recovery and wellness restoration in both the English and Navajo language, published in 1990. Currently, I am in private practice as a Practitioner and Diagnostician and also an International Teacher and Consultant of Navajo/Dineh blessingway ceremonial healing principles. I live in Seattle .
I translated the Dineh blessingway ceremony principles into a "contemporary cognitive change process" named "Indigenous Ceremonial Change Process" designed within the context of the natural order - not a belief system. The four phases of a healing process leads to curing through a reframe phase from a Eurocentric Dualistic thinking system into an Affirmative thinking system. I will focus upon describing/comparing the functions of each thinking system for co-creative solutions in decision making. I will teach "how to" reframe one's thinking from using thinking for what it is not for, to the appropriate use of what whole-brain thinking is for - awakening the creative imagination, through designing co-creative solutions by teaching win-win decision making for collective survival. http://www.nativeamericanconcepts.wordpress.com/
